New features in iOS 12
There are fewer new features in the iOS 12 update, compared to the major revamp in the iOS 11 update. Here are some of the new features found in the iOS 12 update.
New iPad gestures
The gestures on the iPad are already great, but it seems that Apple wants to make gestures less confusing for users using the latest iPhone X. The new gestures are similar to the iPhone X's.
Opening control center
Swipe from the top right corner of the iPad's display.
Going home screen
Swipe from the bottom of the screen all the way to the top.
OR
Using 5-finger pinch to go home screen.
Going to multitasking page
Swipe from the bottom of the screen halfway.
OR
Using 4-finger slide, from the middle to the top.
FaceTime(Now being able to FaceTime with more people at once)
You can now use FaceTime to chat with up to 32 people, more than the number of people with Google Duo.
Memoji
This feature is only available on the iPhone X, as it has a 3D face recognition technology to create Animojis. The new Memoji allows one to create, personalise one's own face. There's also tongue detection now. When you stick your tongue out, the Animoji will also stick out the tongue.
AR comes to play
There is a new measure app that allows one to measure real-life objects, giving accurate measurements. As such, if a designer wants to test out how will his own object look like in real-life, the app will allow the designers to know if the product suits into the area.
Screen Time
The new feature, which can be customised in Settings, can close an app after the time you set is over. If you find that you are addicted to a certain app and you use it for too long, you can set a limited time in Settings and iOS 12 will remind you when the time is going to be up. This is a good start to stop smartphone addiction.
Grouped Notifications
The new notifications feature, groups up all the notifications from the same app, making a stacks effect. When you press on a grouped notification, all of the notifications being grouped inside it will pop up. This will make the notifications neater.Do not disturb
You can now set times that you want not to be disturbed by the notifcations coming from your phone. When this is activated, no notifications will be shown.
Photos
The new For You tab allows you to share moments quickly through iMessages.
Photo Search
Searching for photos in the photos app is now possible, allowing you to search for images accurately, rather than scrolling through tons of photos in your device.
